If that is unsuccessful, you could try to dispute the late payment with the credit bureaus, but you'll likely be told that the creditor verified the information and no change will result if there are no errors in the reporting.

They also have the option for the tenant to have their payments reported to the credit bureaus which is great for the tenant who wants to build their credit.
