We sometimes spray everything down with a bleach solution.

So I got this crazy idea and wondered what, if anything, some bleach would do to it.  

I have other tenants that are more active with the house maintenance and hit the mildew with bleach water and a hose, which usually cures the problem.I'd be more than happy to share my power washer's contact info with you. 

My advice is not to waste your money on testing clean with bleach water and buy a mildew mold suppressant from hardware store it's a chemical you put in a pump up sprayer keeps mold from coming back if on a painted surface get a fungicide paint additive and repaint area.

I do have one reservation about 50% bleach/water.  

Contractor said it wasn't 'old mold', it was 'new mold' and he felt like it was mainly because house had not been lived in recently and could be fixed with bleach, ventilation and circulation.

So nothing a broom and some bleach can't clean there now for sure. 

It will cost a little bit more up front but save you on bleach later and cleaning fees. 

My property manager even sprayed some bleach on the walls to help with any musty basement smell.
