Short-term, especially somewhere like Orlando (versus a Caribbean island or somewhere that is an obvious vacation spot), will be very hard and you are much less likely to make any money than doing a long-term rental.

I just logged in to post basically the same exact question, the only difference is that my wife and I were considering some place in the Caribbean.

I  am also from the Caribbean and vacation rentals are the way to go.Good luck and see you around the site..

Ambergris can be pricey compared to other areas of Belize and Central America, but it is fairly cheap compared to places in the Caribbean.
