One of the biggest issues is probably borrower default—whether due to mismanagement, market downturns, or unforeseen circumstances, lenders can end up in long, costly recovery processes.

If your just going to do one or two a year you can hunt for that investor who probably does not know what their capital is worth.

@Mario Morales, to echo Bradley, I would say this depends on what you are lacking in your own knowledge base.To some (probably many investors) the agent is simply an initial filter for them.
