The policies are on auto pay AND auto renewal so I have to call back tomorrow to fight w/a different division to cancel the policies. 

If the location is good, your purchase at the right price and are capable of properly managing the properties, you will be successful.  

He did say the heirs could fight the sale, but that they would have to hire an attorney and drag it through the courts.

They then make assumptions that you are capable of taking 100% of the added depreciation, which may or may not be true.

Now you have to fight him and evict him and deal with cleaning out and selling his house, maybe at a loss.

The reality is the assessments are correct, but when you do the math based on the tax rate (which in most locales has also gone up) our property taxes on our properties is up an average of over 10%…I know some will say “fight the assessments” but honestly I think some of them may be low (and truth be told I would guess less than 5% if people contest assessments).I am curious, have others started to receive their assessments - and were you in sticker shock?
