One burner is gas, the other oil burner.  2 units are on 1 gas and 1 electric meter.

Ultimately I'll be a pilot in the National Guard, so we'll be back up in Massachusetts.We want to keep our current home, at least for the immediate future.

I don't really care whether the back right burner of the stove doesn't work or there's some water damage on some joists somewhere. 

So you need a backup. 

Obviously I am thinking of getting the property surveyed and thinking of building it back up to a potential getaway/airbnb.

I am going to start getting burner phones so each account has its own phone number. 

Use something like https://latchel.com/ and have a backup who can authorize work, maybe leave that same person a credit card (assuming they are trustworthy, like say someone you'd give power of attorney to).

This property manager could not produce a 7 Day Notice after 3 weeks of repeated requests, a worker putting in a smoke alarm saw a sewage backup and didn't even tell me or his boss, checking info for a owner payout was not entered properly and resulted in a week delay, a renter was told of a payment plan for hardship but receved a contact info update in the mail... and lastly I had to email questions each day which never got answers.
