So, to the chagrin of some developers it can get a little expensive at times but on the flip side of that coin it provides kind of a firewall so that what ever is being built is being built with a strong intention.

Some level of protection will almost certainly be provided as opposed to some sort of outright ban.  

Investing in multifamily properties offers steady cash flow, diversification, as multiple tenants reduce vacancy risks and provide consistent income.

But what it does provide is a framework.

Multifamily properties provide the advantage of multiple income streams, which can help offset vacancies and reduce risk.

I'll never stop investing in rentals though and providing properties for my investor friends.
