I was mindlessly scrolling Facebook shortly after this and saw a friend from HS (who was not the best kid nor the most intelligent) accepting an invite to an event called "How to make $50k in a month" and I figured it was the biggest scam ever.

I've started doing background checks on people I hire because a) I intend on using them often in the future and if they have a shady past I should know about it and b) I'm inviting these people onto my property, doing business and if something doesn't turn out to my satisfaction, I don't want to get shanked.

Numerous books, articles, seminars, etc have come out touting the riches to be enjoyed in the STR business to the point that competition has become fierce6.
