I would happily pay for the service.Is there anything similar out there that might be almost as good or even better?

I did with with mine and pay myself back interest included but I don't if that's an option your plans offers.

I have a buddy who does this for a living on raw land, and he pays for the software and gives us all the data for free.  

That is good but there are fewer folks looking to spend over $1000 a night on a place.This all looks like a problem waiting to happen IMHO.

Most of the buyers are just regular folks looking for a home, so they are not at all thinking about cap rates.

It looks good) I stumbled across someone locally who does it, but I'm sure you could find someone there if you or other out-of-town investors like the idea of paying a bit more for that level of security and obtain a remote monitoring source of the exterior of the properties.

This is why when folks say everything is millions of dollar in Ca they just have no clue..
