They just raised the minimum deduction to the point that it is more than most people's itemized deductions.I would be willing to refi a rental to pay off my home mortgage because in most states your personal home and qualified retirement accounts are protected from bankruptcy/law suites so they are one of your most secure places to stash your money (although fairly illiquid).

Some of them end up being the nice family that had one income earner who lost their job and held on for as long as they could etc but some of them are the guy who lost the job because of drug testing and then lost 5 more jobs the same way and then did the spiral into bankruptcy.

The owner received the notice of discharge, due to bankruptcy, from the lender in Feb 2019.Because I have the connection to the former owners, I know who the lender is and I know that the property is not currently being communicated to the public as a foreclosure.
