That being said if the owners have lived there for a long time, depending on local laws they have to disclose things they know of that have occurred to you which will give you a decent idea of the homes history.

I'm certainly no attorney but I don't think you have much recourse unless you can prove which (if any) damages occurred after your purchase date.
