I need to take out the dryer anyway because I suspect that the dryer vent has never been cleaned, and it runs 25' feet, so it's not one of those through-the-wall ones you don't really have to worry about.I figure I'm going to have an afternoon routine once every five years of pulling out the dryer, draining the WH, snaking the dryer vent, replacing the anode, and putting everything back again.

Unless the Collection Statute Expiration Date has passed (10 years), IRS is highly unlikely to release that lien without complete resolution of the tax matters.The IRS routinely releases a lien against property when the lien is greater than the property value, as long as they receive the sales proceeds after any property taxes/mtgs are paid off.

The property is probably in foreclosure and when found vacant the bank will hire a property preservation company to keep the property up by mowing the grass and doing routine inspections.
