I'm working on getting my first unit, I'm looking at condos South of the bay area (Salinas - Monterey) which I will be living in.

I have accepted a job offer and will be relocating from Boulder, CO to Oakland /Bay Area. 

Bay area home prices appreciate at much higher rates than other areas.

@Luis Aguilar I live in the SF Bay Area in a very similar situation, only I have a family of 4 which limits my options a bit.

I have started speaking with folks who do rentals >30 days in the East Bay and South Bay, and they are generally getting returns well above long-term unfurnished rentals.
