After seeing that, I informed Equity that I no longer wanted to do business with them as this constituted fraud and was not how I wanted my assets transferred. 

They have the best customer service (still is horrible but best out there) and when you have cases of fraud, they are willing to help out.

Something else to keep in mind is a LLC does not provide absolute protection so you still need to take other measures to protect yourself like insurance, umbrella insurance policy, trusts to help further hide your identity, don't use your name and home address as the registered agent for the LLC. 

Between rent control, a RTA and LTB that are highly pro tennat, well educated tenants that "know their rights" and welfare fraud running rampant it is not worth the effort for investors from away.
