Just today I sent off my 12 page complaint to the contractors state licensing board against (formerly) one of the most popular rehabbers in the IE.. who now works for Waypoint because he screwed so many investors over last year nobody will even give him a toilet to unclog.I've been at this for 15 years and the one constant in this business is that contractors are like cheese, they all go bad eventually.

Of course, the value of the building is important since if it's purpose-built (i.e. burger place with drive-thru) if they leave, may not be the easiest place to re-purpose or lease.

The big cheese acted as if he cared, and then (never mentioned it) retired a month or 2 later.

The steel stairs are starting to looks like swiss cheese, and they are structurally sound for now, but they'll have to be replace sooner rather than later. 

Because they had lived through the GD they wouldn't spend 30 cents extra to get blue cheese dressing at a restaurant. 

I would not do the work and only take part of the cheese.
