You only dig down to the sewer pipe .  

It is the cause of the problem and will continue to be troublesome.It is just going to cause more issues down the road--like eventually crack your next driveway, impinge on any underground pipes, put leaves and branches on your roof/gutter every storm and every fall, etc.

You should take into account the expenses that go along with it, taxes, insurance, are you going to keep the utilities on you will need heat if you don't want pipes to freeze or you will need to winterize the property, if you are financing you will have those costs.

At about 30+ years, the sewer pipe from the property to the street needs to be replaced.

But if you want the sewer pipes rebuilt then you may have to wait a longer time. 

He was great when I needed a plumber to install a new valve or even snake the sewer pipe for showing up quickly.
