I wouldn't say that people in general like one type over another, but rather people in general cohorts (single, married - no kids, married - with kids, etc.) tend to gravitate towards certain types of properties based on their lifestyles.

The other one is not in California, quit W2 at age 37 scaled from 2014 to 2021 with 5 duplexes, quit W2 during COVID, lives a frugal lifestyle and benefitted from the huge increase in property values and low interest rates.

Those frauds just buy 'carbon credits' so they can feel better about themselves, they don't really care or they would alter their lifestyles instead of pounding the rest of us with the guilt, Lol....And if we look at the temps for the last millenium instead of the last century, they can show that although we are in a temporary upswing, we're really on a slide into a colder era.
