Hi, I just started using BiggerPockets and am excited to learn about the community and all the resources available.

I'm overall neutral on the program and never intentionally go after JUST section 8 tenants.Anyway, there's a ton to unpack here about S8 and Detroit in general.Happy to share some resources if you'd like. 

I find people can succeed with having resources from a self help sort of system.

But if you have the financial resources and the trades ready to rock, run the numbers and see what option works best for your specific project. 

There are many free resources on BP and YouTube and some great inexpensive underwriting courses on Udemy.

(Michael's posts are a great resource for this, but still no substitute for working directly with a tax accountant that's well-versed in all the ins-and-outs of this.)
