It’s not a secret.

Misinformation stating that the guru dropped out of school, was fired from his job, failed in his business startup, but when he discovered” the “secret” of real estate investing, met with almost instantaneous success7.

While I didn't love the 30% cut they took, I was happy to have it in experienced hands (and a lot of what they did, advised, etc. was on-track with what I had researched, discovered here and on other STR forums).

@Michael Klinger  As others posted, SoFi and Discover personal loans are good options and I've used them in the past.  2-3 business days from application to funds in my checking account. 

They somehow think that for $197, or $1970, or $19700, they’ve somehow acquired some methodology, strategy, knowledge or “the secret sauce” that will ensure their investing or business success, and that the experienced, knowledgeable, and successful real estate investors who point out the obvious faults “just don’t get it”.  

If 4 syndicators offer 10% and another is offering 15-20% then a red flag should go up and ask “why is this one better” if the operator says it’s because their secret sauce I would laugh. 2.

A little secret is that Property Management companies come in two basic varieties.

You might be able to afford a "better" property then.If you invest somewhere else in a vacation rental for example, you might also discover another place that you might like for retirement as well that might be more profitable.
