Whether or not you materially participate is a different question (and deserves a full post with all of the nuances).  

My empathy is reserved for those who deserve it, not those ABUSING "empathy" to cover there selfish gambles.

I believe the Carls are upstanding and honest contributors, and as such deserve any  criticism to be direct and not as a “snide” remark or implied “put down”. 

Also, there are people who "hate" on apartment syndicators for even using OPM (Other People's Money) and don't want to pay us fees we deserve for all the hard work we do.
