Because if the mechanicals need protection from the locals, the renters must feel the need for protection from them also.Just my 2 cents. the issue with dogs is the windows are removed and the metal window coverings have holes in them to allow circulation. so in the winter in Chicago its freezing in those houses so they have to use portable lights and portable heaters to work inside.. its truly a shame that its come to this for rehabbers and builders..

I have a unit that has a a 10x12 room with a window but no closet that you walk through to get to the master.

If you are splitting rooms you still need to make sure that each room as a window, a closet, and a 2nd egress. 

But sometimes the best solution is pushing the problem on someone else (just make sure you are not hiding any skeletons in the closet or under ground and not notifying them). 

My clients bought one that was four bedrooms with a den (just needs a closet) and a loft area (which could easily be converted). 

I have spares of each set of bedding in the cleaner's closet to make the turnover easier on my cleaner.

I build at simple closet with accordion doors to make it as some and cost effective as possible.

Kitchens, baths, and closets are definitely high-impact areas that can sway a buyer’s decision, especially if budget constraints mean you can’t do it all.It’s always a balancing act, isn't it?
