Although Lowes pre assembled cabinets do seem a little sturdier than Home Depots, they're still vinyl wrapped MDF, not painted.

Vinyl plank is likely more durable than laminate and you can take up a piece and replace it if needed (get some extra when you buy it).

Was there pvc to the exterior of unit or a drain in addition to the pan?

This year, between tenants, I will be replacing the carpet with vinyl flooring, updating the bathroom vanity/lighting/mirror, and some other small updates such as changing out light fixtures, and faucets, and switching the old blinds from fresh curtains.
