Give them more time than required, and let them know gently. 

I am a car guy , a good buff and wax will do .Me , I would tell them verbally that here is 300 for a detail , or go pound sand . 

I pointed this out again today and gave a gentle reminder that September is not that far off (they're only renting for 6 months, anyway!).

On that call, we talk to them very gently, with a purpose, and calmly explained that we haven’t had the tenant in 6 month.

Or, you can look at a gently used one, maybe 6-8 years old for a lower price.

Nothing wrong with a buff/spot stain and poly either. 

I even got gentle - not pushy - follow up calls as I was having my first (very old) home inspected as required by the underwriter. 

And I hear it's easy to fix scratches (fine sandpaper) and to buff it if the finish dulls?  

I have put in a gently used coil top range in before a couple of time (because they last forever and fairly easy to move and install) but with a refrigerator or washer or dryer or dishwasher, I just get a new one. 

@Melanie P. it sounds to me that Michael Thach just calmly and gently proved that not only he knows what he is talking about but elegantly showed that those that choose to attack and claim their expertise - are usually the real clowns.
