Also, just so others are aware, a contractor's license does not allow you to do plumbing or electrical or HVAC.Yeah I'd recommend if you want to actually be any good at sheetrock, painting, tile etc to go work for a guy to get better motor skills with it.

I called a contractor that evening to help us bring the door back down and upon inspection, the contractor said the damage was most likely due to uneven springs/cables and a motor that was set too high (9).

I think 8 is the minimum.1) Lighting circuit, 2) (2) GFCI counter appliance circuits, 3) Fridge, 4) Microwave, 5) Dishwasher, 6) Garbage Disposal, 7) Range, 8) usually a few others for small appliances with motors or heatYou also need a permit if you are changing any plumbing locations, like moving the sink drain a few feet away, or adding a Refer water line, etc....And then there is structural...many people today are trying to open up the old kitchen area and turn it into a 'Great Room'...so that will require new headers/posts/Etc.
