Make sure that it at a bare minimum meets the 1% rule....although often you will see it is higher than this.

The FHA Streamline sweatshops don't need to calculate income, barely need to verify employment, don't even need an appraisal department, virtually zero buy-backs, etc, so there's a whole bunch of overhead costs they simply don't have at all, and they can hire the dumbest/cheapest people for all positions.

I thought that was good info from @Rick Bassett but I was a little confused by the conclusion that is was barely worth it when you consider the extra work.You didn't detail or even mention in your post how much extra work or what that entails.

I just want to open as much of that space up as possible after the removal of the furnace/heater and create the largest single room possible, or at the least combine the closet room and the furnace room into a finished room with a floor more comforting than the current bare concerete.
