This situation is the equivalent of a store listing sales tax in the price one day and not the next.

It appears it will be close to break-even even at the current rents.  

They are not pay three month's of rent but the equivalent to as a penalty. 

There is also an acre lot and garage and the price point is well below any equivalent newer trailers or stick built homes of similar size in the area (probably 50% of their value).

Those will require only a small amount of money down and won't appear on your credit.

@Erwin Groenendijk, you are correct but Americans should be able to credit their taxes paid in Spain against their equivalent US taxes courtesy of the treaty for the avoidance of double taxation between the two countries.
