Another way to calculate is find out how many gallons the pool holds. 1 cubic foot = 7.48 gallons.Take the amount of gallons, say 20,000 / 7.48 = 2674 cubic feet.2674 cubic feet equals = 99 cubic yards.You could add a bit more for the top of the pool that you don't fill up, but the decking and broken up gunite, plaster, tile etc, should take care of this.

Without gutters, run off can fill drain tile etc over time with sediment and your flood water would have better chance of backing up under slab.
