Also, the state of formation is likely where internal disputes would be brought among LLC members, so if you and a partner and/or spouse live in CA, you probably want to arbitrate in CA if the two of you had a disagreement.

Overall, I’d love advice on the ideal timeline for finding team members—like a general contractor and property manager—for an out-of-state investment.

I have also seen deals with more than 5 members in management that have ended up in litigation or dissension very shortly after (or even before) closing.
