I'm always amazed on how ruggedly built some of these old buildings are ... and equally amused by the fact there were no real building standards, but most of the really blatantly bad bits tend to have come with past "updates" (like the introduction of indoor plumbing or electricity).That said, you make you money on these old buildings when you buy!

It's not to the point where it's a hoarder situation, just stuff like an unused treadmill, area rugs everywhere, curtains that aren't hung correctly (no damage to apartment, and it's not unclean, just doesn't present well).

I like something like place and go rubber tiles which tolerate a little unevenness, carpet is cheaper and also tolerates some unevenness, lino is cheaper and great for a utilty basement area rugs can always.
