@Andrew M.Well, you will definitely have to have all the smoke detectors to be hard-wired (with battery-backup)...and they need to be wired so that if one goes off upstairs, then the others go off as well.

The only thing you really need is basic info from the state on what the inspection requirements are for section 8 housing (these are usually very simple, i.e. smoke detectors, working utilities, etc.) and a point-man who can go to the section 8 offices and tell people about the units you have.

I hate fridges that stick out into the walk space.The 'light switch' for a small one we did was not well placed so I installed an LED ceiling light with a built in motion detector & they love it.
