In general, developers will model revenue with SAM or an equivalent tool for non-dispatchable production.

I would highly recommend finding a syndicator who can bring you in to help on some aspect of the deal where you can bring some expertise or assistance. 

They will likely have an edge over you due to their local expertise, relationships and physical presence. 

While I personally have no use for the model, if you approach it in the manner you're describing I'm sure you will get a lot more attention and traction - especially your last quote: "How do I profitably solve problems for the people I want to work with?"

I just am concerned if the regulations change, and if you are trying to b build a business, and you do not own the asset, then you can lose your whole model.
