I only run the heat a few times a winter.  

These kinds of units could also provide heat and more efficiently than electric baseboard.

They could go to Walmart and buy a 55-gallon bin to bathe in with hot water heated on the stove and take care of basic needs.

But there is no way window units are going to make it much longer in this Louisiana heat.
