Every market has its risk.. whether its tornadoes, fires, earth quakes and hail. 

I figure the old houses I've looked at have made it through 4-6 6.0+ earthquakes and they're still standing.

Repairing the clear cut and preparing the land for row crops that can be harvested one or more times a year makes more sense to me.What makes even more sense to me is to "grow farmers" and to "cultivate entrepreneurs" like I and other missionaries to Haiti have already done. 

If you're going the umbrella insurance route, make sure it will cover you for several things including just the routine slip and fall (like mold or earthquake).

- There are other external concerns that I have i.e. state budget shortfalls, too much concentration in one job sector (ex. tech), running out of water situation, earthquakes, fires, etc., any thoughts on how others navigate this?

Little Havana; Little Haiti; Little River; Weschester (few in Miami-Dade - really depends what properties / other criteria / strategy you are after?)

The only thing that I can see is an earthquake or some radical interest rate changes or major league recession otherwise when looking back these might be considered bargains I am afraid.

A lot of policies exclude coverage for storms and earthquakes as well, and if they do its a much larger deductible.  

How could a bank survived I don’t know but I really respect some of you guys in financing industry that can weather this earthquake.
