Here’s why:Putting aside the actual physical danger of living in a fire prone area.

I bought a single family because I thought I could house hack in the same way as a duplex and in ways it certainly could have and did work but I didn't expect the relational aspects of having people living in a property I purchased.

We’re fortunate to have an above-average income and live well below our means.This summer, we’ll be moving to Detroit (PCSing in August), and we’ve saved about $120,000 to invest in addition to having funds set aside for the home we’ll purchase in Detroit.The reason I’m posting is that I’m struggling to decide how to best allocate the $120k.

Living in the Pacific Northwest, where the “Big One” could strike at any moment, I’ve been gradually selling off my portfolio to exit the market and safeguard my capital.

I happen to live in AZ in the winter and MI in the summer.
