The visuals and the character, I personally think It's an illusion especially If you are not living in the home who really cares.

I used different bright colored masking tape to temporarily mark each pipe, to help me visualize where everything went.

To save on costs, simply clearing the area to make it visually appealing should suffice.

You might also consider a stone wainscot slightly higher than the window sill line... it would give it some visual weight.Some landscaping is definitely in order, but again, I'd have to see the completed version to make good recommendations.

I think the visual problem you may be having now, is with the high contrast of the smooth white window frames against the dark rough stone... it pulls your eye right to it, and there's nothing much else to grab your attention.My recommendation: First, redirect your attention to the entry/stoop.
