Get all the stats and if it's a good deal, upgrade your BP membership, put it on the Marketplace, and voilà!

The main REIA group in my area is a $500/year membership.

I have recently upgraded to a Pro membership because I'm actively trying to acquire my first property - and have been for some time now.

It's not free (although the first meeting is) but included in the membership are classes, seminars,  weekly updates, conventions, books,....more things than I can mention.

The funds were used for real estate investing.Can a real-estate investment club membership be deducted as a business expense? 

I couldn't do this without my license.One thing the forget to tell you is the cost of membership.  

Some of the ways they advertise seems a bit gimmicky too, which I don’t like.For me its not worth the cost of membership right now, especially after finding out about all the local meetups organized by BP members.

It's hard to get 2-3 people to agree, let along 300+ (usually a special assessment requires the majority vote of the membership).Why would you sue the HOA?
