If you buy a home in the middle of a downtown, you go in (or should go in) with the expectation that you're going to hear the typical noises of a city - traffic, police sirens - and that you're going to enjoy some of the perks (walkable neighborhoods) and suffer some of the aggravation (parking a mile from your house, dealing with panhandlers).

“Possession of a firearm” by itself isn’t usually even a crime, much less a felony, unless there’s some aggravating factors, like he was already a convicted felon or it was a stolen firearm or he used it in the commission of another crime.
