I put 0 credit or thought into him selling his portfolio, not just for all that but also he is what, 70+ now, and a Billionaire, yeah, in those shoes, I'd probably go buy an island, build an entire city on it, buy a moth-balled destroyer and invite my friends to have a fun filled weekend of just blowing the place up for S&G, just because I could.     

I just don’t understand how people can become billionaires off of this when it would take 5 years to recoup the investment and do it again.

My 2 cents: If I had that kind of cash sitting around, I'd stash it into Bitcoin or diversified Tech stocks, or better yet I'd just buy bunch of real estate.

I was able to save a few thousand dollars that I turned and invested into the stock market and crypto currencies (BitCoin and Ether).

With the big dip recently might be a good time to pick up a few Bitcoin and ETH.

Stocks, gold, bitcoin, day trading, side hustles - been doing these for years and rather successfully - never once wanted to touch RE. 

BTW the way you are talking you are given open permission for billionaires to do whatever they want to the system.
