If you are planning to major in a STEM, finance, business, pre-med, pre-law...goOtherwise skip it IMO.

Bonnie B is the one I'm looking at...which is 6 houses from the med center. 

We are becoming less of a seasonally driven market, but with a teaching hospital (UT’s med school), 3 other 4-year colleges, snowbirds, and proximity to an INTL airport, Galveston has plans A, B, C, and maybe even Z for strategies. 

You'd probably get a lot of students touring the college (they have undergrad, med, business and law that are prestigious), residents interviewing at the hospitals, and physicians coming for conferences.

It is close to Downtown, Midtown, & Med Center.

We're about to refinance 1 commercial properties (2 med offices/ 1 church & med office on a lot).

No professional wants to deal with 20 something students when they get off a 24 hours shift.So if the traveling person idea is appealing, check with Children's and see if they have any kind of dept or HR staff who help find short to mid term housing for traveling med folks.

Would also be a great learning experience for me :D 

My step brother is going to med school out there and renting a place so he would potentially partner with me. 

As for investing in the area, in my personal opinion I would stay away from KC Kansas except for certain areas near KU Med and south of I-35  The better areas are in Johnson County, but they will be higher priced.
