We've had all kinds of mixes -- 1/1 condos, 3/2 condo, 2/2 SFH, and 4/2 SFH, and they've all performed well for us. 

Regardless of the house-hacking issues, mixing business with pleasure is often fraught with peril.

@Tchaka Owen - so I’ve had mixed experiences with both Lending One & SIL, If the need came up again, i’d probably look for a new option... in addition to Lending one.Experience 1: Lending one, was preapproved for a loan on a new purchase & got all the way to scheduling the appraisal when a mysterious cap was put in place requiring a 60k per unit valuation (was never disclosed prior or even mentioned as a risk), they pulled out.

Hello all, I'm in the DMV area and I currently have a Mixed-Used property that I need help comping somewhat.

Nice mixed use property came up for sale practically in my back yard in rural, south of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  10 residential apartments + 3 commercial spaces. 

Taking an empty site or reimagining an existing/abandoned building into housing or mixed use is most definitely a goal of mine.

Initially I was planning to use a mix of cash and stocks to fund this purchase, but now having the second thoughts whether I should use  just some cash and apply to some home equity financing options instead to cover the offer amount.
