The clerk of court couldn't really tell me what I need to do to get the money released to me (other than a judge had to release it) and suggested I hire an attorney but I don't want to spend the money I am owed to pay attorney fees, especially if it's something I can do myself.

The example they give usually is that somebody has no equity and is in foreclosure so they Quit claim a deed to you, Then you contact the IRS to have the lien removed or released as long as you can show there is no substantial equity.My question is this : Will the IRS work with you as a buyer of a property that has an IRS lien on it if you have NOT been given a deed to it and don't own it yet?

Really the only remedy she can expect is being released from her lease, which it doesn't sound like she wants.Maybe the landlord has the rules to avoid drawing attention from the neighbors, to avoid getting reported for illegally renting the basement.
