We are buy and hold investors in Boise too, and I am a full time residential real estate agent based out of Eagle.  

I always use the charcoal color, the silver reflects too much light and can make it hard to see through.

From my silver-plated spoon childhood (rich friends) it seemed that the totally passive concept was bearer bonds. 

I've tried to coach people who really just wanted to fall to their knees, close their eyes, and open their mouths with an anticipatory sigh to let their godlike mentor to stick a silver spoon in there, and that ain't me.So whatever you choose, don't expect any coach or any other source of information to have all the answers.

Im sorry I dont have any silver bullets for you but I would like to think of this as either a bump in the road, or a divine push to get you to make some sort of adjustment or change in your investing that will be for the better. 

Or would a Florida's brokers license be the silver bullet to all my questions (which i will also be getting in a couple years once i qualify)?

Take the cash and move it to silver and sit on the sidelines - for a little time.
