How do I transition my mindset?

According to them he had to take care of some financial responsibilities while there, now he is ready to transition to regular housing. 

I plan to use my own earned income to get into leveraged buy and hold properties for cashflow, but want to transition any inheritance that I may receive one day into a completely secure, paid off, passive real estate vehicle, to honor the financial legacy he has and still is working to grow.
