Besides, these hotels have the kitchen so you're not eating out three times per day while looking for work.

Kitchens and baths are where I would spend more too as you get the biggest bang for your buck.

Just a word of caution about going "overboard" with adding extra equipment (fire extinguishers, etc) that is not required by code.
