There are usually city weed liens and sometimes it can take months for the inspector to deliver them to the courthouse and get them attached to the property. 

It must be hand delivered or there needs to be several attempts to serve them.  

In my instance they grossly over promised and when they knew they weren't going to be able to deliver, they began dragging out the process of providing final terms to the point where the window to switch to alternative financing becomes too narrow and you're basically indebted to them.

For me the question would be do you need to collect a fresh deposit?
