I'm really intrigued by tax planning for this property -- specifically if/how I could plan my visits to this property and write-off those trip costs. 1) I'd be a partial owner (and passive, largely); curious if that would impair my ability to write off trip costs in any way?

Look for partner how has experience, good moral character, good credit, good reference, good track record , discuss in advance in details what both of your looking out of the partnership, how you guys will dissolve problems, what is the end game, partnership is like dating you need to start slow to see if both of value match( do your homework on the partner)

I allow them to pay with check as well, but I charge an additional $10 fee for the extra time gathering it and taking a trip to the bank.
