That said, I would always hire an attorney any way because the cost is not significantly higher and it is a waste of time for me to spend half a day in court waiting for my turn, only for the tenant to bring in a free public defense attorney who nitpicks my case apart and finds that ONE THING I forgot to do right and it all blows up.Single member LLCs may or may not offer much protection for the owner, again depending on how your state's case law has worked in the past.
