We have had the free membership on CI for a few years with the hope of networking on deals with nearby RE investors; nothing measurable has come from it yet that we can tell. 

Currently, I have one LTR and aim to scale my portfolio while maintaining my day job.

Hey Shaylynn, it really comes down to what you're aiming for.

To do well in pricey places like Santa Barbara, use what locals know, look into ways to invest, team up with backers, check out how to pay for things, aim for cheap homes, do deep checks on the market, and get to know folks in the area.

And I agree with you; aiming for a gradual, less risky approach.

I'm currently working on learning and gaining experience in real estate, aiming to make that happen sooner rather than later.
