That's not simple, because there is no basement or crawl space; the tub is installed over a cable-tension slab.One possible solution I thought of would be to take out the tub, reverse it and install it a little higher, with a slightly sloped, essentially horizontal pipe running under the tub from the drain to the existing trap, a distance of maybe 45 to 48 inches.

They are rabbeted in the very best tradition of foursquare work, and each of the 4 and 5-inch quartersawn trim boards has a wide single groove dadoed into its back (modern production trim boards have 2 or 3 narrow grooves, it's cheaper to do but doesn't work for trim quite as well).

On top of "giving your Tenant an inch" before he/she even moves in, I still don't think anyone can conclusively say what the long term effects of vapor in an enclosed spaced are going to be.

Some fellow landlords would call me soft and would bellow they run their rentals like a business and late rent = late fees, no exception and that if you give a tenant an inch they'll take a mile.
