You want to understand the demographics like the employment base, tourism, and get to know the neighborhoods so when a listing comes up (or off market deal) you know right away where it's at and what that neighborhood is like.

If you want a successful short term rental, it has to be in an area with consistent tourism which the Myrtle Beach area is good for, but I don’t think too many people are going to want to stay a 25 minute drive from the beach.
